Rashid Khan returns to Afghanistan squad for ODI series vs Bangladesh, Noor Ahmad misses out

By India Today Sports Desk: Rashid Khan returned to the Afghanistan squad on Sunday for the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh, which begins on July 5 in Chattogram, after being rested for the team's one-off Test in Mirpur to prioritise his long-term fitness.

Izharulhaq Naveed, a fellow leg-spinner who rose to prominence in Australia's Big Bash League last season, has been given his first ODI call-up. However, left-arm wrist-spinner Noor Ahmad, who was in Afghanistan's squad for the ODI series against Sri Lanka earlier this month, is not included. Shahidullah, Zia-ur-Rehman, Wafadar Moment, Mohammad Saleem, and Sayed Shirzad are among the newcomers to Afghanistan's ODI squad.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) also announced ten players who will serve as backups for the team in future ODIs and the World Cup, which will be held in India in October-November. Karim Janat, Qais Ahmad, Gulbadin Naib, Sharafuddin Ashraf, Naveen-ul-Haq, Darwish Rasooli, Zubaid Akbari, Ihsanullah Janat, Farid Malik, and Ishaq Rahimi are among the ten backup players.

Afghanistan will play all three day-night ODIs against Bangladesh at Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on July 5, 8, and 11. It will be followed by two T20Is between the two teams on July 14 and 16 in Sylhet.
