Oscar Piastri's IPL team search: Stoinis, Ellis put in pitches before LSG vs PBKS

Oscar Piastri's for an IPL team to support received support from Australian stars Marcus Stoinis and Nathan Ellis who endorsed their respective teams to the F1 driver ahead of the Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings game on March 30, Saturday. Piastri had put out a tweet recently after the high-scoring Sunrisers Hyderabad-Mumbai Indians clash, saying he wanted to follow the IPL this year and asked fans for team suggestions.

The Aussie driver, received a lot of recommendations from fans and stars, with Pat Cummins telling him to follow SRH. Now Stoinis and Ellis have also joined in and made their respective pitches for LSG and PBKS.

Stoinis would say that it would be great for the McLaren driver to join him and fellow Aussie racer, Daniel Ricciardo, at Lucknow. Ricciardo and Stoinis are good friends and the LSG all-rounder said it would be good to keep things within the family.

"Look, obviously, it's an easy choice. Lucknow is his team. Why not join another Aussie with his Aussie boy, that's Daniel Ricciardo that follows Lucknow. Let's keep it all in the family," said Stoinis.

Stoinis would also tell Piastri that LSG would send him tickets and merchandise in return for his support to the franchise.

"If you ever need anything, we can sort out some tickets, we can sort out a spot for you to sit. We can sort out a t-shirt, send something to you. But yes, we would love your support," said Stoinis.

Ellis would say that having an Aussie become a Punjab fan is always exciting and was more than happy to welcome Piastri into the fold.

"First of all, Oscar. Big fan. We only got three Australians here. With the coach, assistant coach Brad Haddin and myself here. Getting a new Punjab fan is exciting. But always exciting when they're Australian. So jump on board."

"I think Stoinis is good friends with Ricciardo, so he will go to Lucknow. So Oscar, you're more than welcome to join Punjab," said Ellis.

LSG all set to welcome PBKS to Lucknow

The action in the IPL 2024 on March 30 will see LSG welcome PBKS to the Ekana stadium in Lucknow. This will be the first time the venue will be hosting a match this season, with both teams needing a win.

LSG had lost their opening match to Rajasthan while PBKS were handed their first loss of the season by RCB.
