By India Today Sports Desk: LSG pacer Avesh Khan said that he regrets the helmet incident that occurred after Lucknow Super Giants defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in a close IPL game. Notably, Avesh was reprimanded for violating the IPL's Code of Conduct as he admitted to the Level 1 offense on the same day that RCB was fined for slow over-rate.
The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru hosted a spectacular game of T20 cricket that ebbed and flowed before LSG defeated RCB by the slimmest of margins. More than 420 runs were scored and 27 sixes were hit, but it all came down to a missed slog and a bye, leaving thousands of RCB fans heartbroken.
Avesh, like his LSG teammates, was pumped up, and after the tense finish, he let off some steam by throwing his helmet on the ground and celebrating the win, which would have resulted in a code of conduct violation.
"Yeh social media mein mera mahool bana rehta hai and helmet incident thoda jyada hogaya tha. I realised later that I shouldn't have done that. It just happened in the heat of the moment. I now feel sad that yaar yeh sab cheez nahi karna tha," Avesh Khan was quoted saying by the Indian Express.
Avesh was instrumental in Madhya Pradesh reaching the Ranji Trophy semifinals the previous season. A string of strong performances could put him back on the radar of Indian scouts. However, the LSG pacer was not happy with his performance with the ball in the IPL 2023.
"If you compare my past two IPL seasons before this one, it went the way I wanted too. However, even though the season didn't go well as per my standard, I maintained my economy rate which is less than 10. I bowl crucial overs 4 or 5th over and later in death," Khan added.
