Real Madrid confirm contract extension of Toni Kroos till 2024

By India Today Sports Desk: Real Madrid has confirmed that Toni Kroos has agreed a deal to extend his stay with the club until 30th June 2024.

The German midfielder was set to be out of contract at the end of this month but will now stay at the club for atleast another year. Kroos arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 from Bayern Munich and is already the most capped German player for Los Blancos.

During his time with Real Madrid, Kroos has won four Champions Leagues, five Club World Cups and three LaLiga titles. There were reports in the Spanish media suggesting that the German was contemplating retirement at the end of his contract.

Kroos himself then went on to confirm his renewal in May, joking that he would have to ask the club when they would announce his renewal.

“I have to ask the club when they are going to announce my renewal, because I have to go on vacation at some point!”, said Kroos as per a report from Diario AS.

Real Madrid have now announced the deal to extend Kroos' contract in an official statement on Wednesday. Kroos will now stay with the club until 30th June 2024.

"Real Madrid CF and Toni Kroos have agreed to extend the player's contract, which remains linked to the club until June 30, 2024."

"Toni Kroos arrived at Real Madrid in 2014 and is already the German player who has defended the shirt the most times of our club, with 417 matches."

"In his nine seasons as a Real Madrid player, he has won 20 titles: 4 Champions League, 5 Club World Cups, 4 European Super Cups, 3 Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey and 3 Spanish Super Cups," read the statement.

Real Madrid had made the signing of Jude Bellingham earlier in the summer to bolster their midfield.
