Kathmandu: The central government is going to take a big step on Monday under the campaign against drugs. Under this, a total of 144,000 kg of narcotic drugs will be destroyed in different places of the country.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will also be present during this. They will be a part of this program through virtual medium. The work of destroying drugs will be done in many cities of the country, in the conference on drug trafficking and national security, Amit Shah will arrange for this work to be seen on television.
The drugs to be destroyed include 6,590 kg of drugs seized by the Hyderabad unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau. Besides, Indore unit seized 822 kg of drugs and Jammu unit seized 356 kg of drugs. The Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against drugs to create a drug-free India.
In fact, the 75-day campaign that started on June 1, 2022 as part of Azadi's Amrit Mahotsav was aimed at destroying 75,000 kilos of drugs. From June 1, 2022 to July 15, 2023, all the regional units of the state agencies have destroyed around 8,76,554 kg of seized drugs worth around Rs 9580 crore.
On Monday alone, the total amount of drugs destroyed in a year will reach 1 million kg. Their total cost will be around Rs 12 thousand crores. It is stated in the statement that this campaign of drug eradication will continue actively to realize the dream of Prime Minister Modi's drug-free India.
Drugs destroyed in states (in kg) Madhya Pradesh 1,03,884, Gujarat 4,277, Jammu and Kashmir 4,069, Uttar Pradesh 4,049, Haryana 2,458, Tripura 1,803, Assam 1,486, Chandigarh 229, Maharashtra 1,259, GO-259 will also be prosecuted.
